What should I know about aFFF and PFAS questions for firefighters?

Quick answer
AFFF is a type of foam used for flammable-liquid fires, and some AFFF formulations have contained PFAS. A firefighter's useful record separates foam use from other fire-service exposures, names the place and task, and keeps medical findings in the clinician's own words. The federal litigation is MDL 2873, but its existence does not decide any individual matter.

The three records to keep separate
Keep an occupation timeline, a place and task timeline, and a medical timeline. A job title may lead to personnel files. A place and task may lead to training, equipment and product records. A diagnosis may lead to imaging, pathology and treatment records. None of the three substitutes for the other two.

A local employer, department, base, airport or water provider holds the individual records. A page that mixes those sources into one conclusion is skipping the most important distinction.
