SAPD keeps the crash report for crashes inside San Antonio. You can ask for it through the city portal, by mail, or in person at the records office.

San Antonio uses its own crash report request form. The form asks how you are connected to the crash, and it tells you to be ready to provide a valid government issued identification card, a driver license, or other documentation.

The city runs an open government portal for police record requests, and it asks you to create an account. You can also mail the completed form or bring it to the SAPD Records Office at 315 South Santa Rosa. That office keeps weekday hours only.

Someone who is not listed on the form receives a crash report with redactions. The form lists who may get the full report, including a driver or another person involved, an authorized representative, the employer, parent or legal guardian of a driver, and an insurance company representative.

For a crash outside San Antonio, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office is one place to start. Its Central Records page says that for accident reports you should visit the TxDOT website. That is the same state site that carries San Antonio crash reports too.

Federal fatal-crash counts, 2022 to 2024
That is 5.5% of every fatal crash the federal file records in the state over the same three years.
These are crashes in which at least one person died within 30 days, as counted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. They are not a count of all crashes, injuries, insurance claims or lawsuits, and most crashes are not in this file at all.
The counts are not adjusted for population, road miles or how much people drive, so they cannot say one place is more dangerous than another. A crash appearing here does not show who was at fault, whether anyone was insured or whether anyone has a claim.
Questions
Fill out the SAPD crash report request form and send it through the city open government portal, by mail, or in person at the Records Office on South Santa Rosa. Bring a government identification card if you want the full report instead of the redacted one.
The SAPD form lists the driver or another person involved, an authorized representative of someone involved, the employer, parent or legal guardian of a driver, the owner of a vehicle or property damaged, and a representative of the insurance company that covered a vehicle or person involved.
The sheriff or a smaller city department may have worked it. For accident reports, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office Central Records page sends you to the TxDOT website, so start there. Its page links the state crash report site directly, and San Antonio reports sit on that same site.
