Tampa gives you three ways to get a crash report, and a different office handles crashes outside the city.

The City of Tampa has a service page for requesting and paying for a police traffic accident report. It opens the city's online records portal, where you enter your information and pay. Have the report number ready, or the date and location of the accident if you do not have it.

The Records Section at One Police Center on North Franklin Street takes walk in requests Monday through Friday during business hours. For mail, Tampa asks you to include a copy of your driver license, the report number, and a self addressed stamped envelope.

Tampa also points people to the state crash portal, which its page lists at a higher charge than a mailed request. Confirm you are allowed to get the report, search for it, pay the fee the portal lists, then save the file quickly because the download link expires.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office takes records and reports requests through its own online page. Its online traffic complaint covers events in unincorporated Hillsborough County, and the page links a city and district boundaries map so you can see who covers your address.

Federal fatal-crash counts, 2022 to 2024
That is 6.4% of every fatal crash the federal file records in the state over the same three years.
These are crashes in which at least one person died within 30 days, as counted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. They are not a count of all crashes, injuries, insurance claims or lawsuits, and most crashes are not in this file at all.
The counts are not adjusted for population, road miles or how much people drive, so they cannot say one place is more dangerous than another. A crash appearing here does not show who was at fault, whether anyone was insured or whether anyone has a claim.
Questions
Tampa gives you three ways. Order and pay through the city's online request service, walk into the Records Section at One Police Center on a weekday, or mail a request with your driver license copy, the report number and a stamped return envelope. The state crash portal also carries the report.
Tampa's records page lists a lower charge for a mailed request than the state crash portal charges online. Both give you the same report. Mail asks for a copy of your driver license, the report number, and a self addressed stamped envelope, so the trade off is time.
Brandon is outside the Tampa city limits, so Tampa Police is unlikely to hold that report. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office takes records and reports requests through its own online page, and its contact page links a city and district boundaries map you can check for the exact address.
