    The Central Records and Reporting Unit sits at 660 First Avenue, third floor, and is open on weekdays during business hours. For a mail request, the city page says to include the type of incident, the report number, a photocopy of your ID, and a self addressed stamped envelope.

    Get the report number first

    Every city police station is open at all hours, and the city says a report cannot be filed online. If you did not get a report number at the scene, the station that covers where the crash happened is the place to ask.

    Check for the state police or the Turnpike

    State Police Troop B covers most of Allegheny County from a station in Moon Township, and Troop T covers the Pennsylvania Turnpike. If either worked your crash, request the report from the Pennsylvania State Police instead of the city.
