The city says people directly involved in the crash have two ways to get an Atlanta police report: online, or in person at Central Records. Atlanta police also work interstate crashes inside the city overnight and on weekends, and the Georgia State Patrol works them at other hours.

The city says reports produced by Atlanta police can be picked up at Central Records several business days after the crash, and the online copies show up in the same window. Keep the report number the officer gave you at the scene.

The city says accident reports can also be purchased online at the crash report site it links, which is open around the clock. You need the accident report number and the last name of a person involved. Once the payment goes through, the report is ready to download or print.

You can pick up an Atlanta police report in person at the Public Safety Annex on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, open Monday through Friday. Bring the report number. The city charges by the page and takes cash, a money order, or a personal check made out to the City of Atlanta.

The city says Atlanta police work the interstates inside the city limits at night and all day on weekends. Crashes on those interstates on weekdays during the day go to the Georgia State Patrol, and the city says it does not have a copy of those reports.

Atlanta reaches into DeKalb County, and crashes outside the city limits usually go to DeKalb County Police. The county police page has a link for finding a police report that sends you to the same crash report purchase site.

These are crashes in which at least one person died within 30 days, as counted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. They are not a count of all crashes, injuries, insurance claims or lawsuits, and most crashes are not in this file at all.
The counts are not adjusted for population, road miles or how much people drive, so they cannot say one place is more dangerous than another. A crash appearing here does not show who was at fault, whether anyone was insured or whether anyone has a claim.
