Does using an AI receptionist waive attorney-client privilege?+
The service is structured as the firm's confidential agent, under firm direction and human attorney review—the role traditionally filled by a receptionist or intake paralegal. That architecture is intended to support privilege, but application is fact-specific and no vendor can guarantee how a court will rule for a particular communication. See Privilege.
Do you train AI on my callers' data?+
No. We use enterprise, no-training voice and language-model providers under contractual data-protection terms, including zero-data-retention API terms where available. Your callers' words never train any model.
How long do you keep recordings and transcripts?+
Raw audio is not retained by default; if a firm enables QA, audio is retained for no more than 7 days. Transcripts are retained for up to 3 days by default, and each firm may select a shorter schedule. Legal-hold controls, when required, are configured and validated during the signed implementation. Full schedule on the DPA.
Could a recording or transcript be discovered?+
Facts are always discoverable, no matter who wrote them down. We minimize what exists and label AI output "unverified, attorney to confirm." When a firm requires legal hold, that control is configured and validated during its signed implementation. We treat this as layered protection, not a guarantee.
Does Vanessa ever give legal advice or quote case value?+
No. Vanessa is intake-only. She gathers facts and books consults, never gives legal advice, and never quotes a case value. A licensed attorney reviews every matter.
How do you run a conflict check?+
Vanessa captures the adverse party's name before any case facts, and notes it for your firm to verify. If a conflict is flagged, she does not take the facts, and tells the caller the firm will confirm and call back.
Does Vanessa disclose she is AI?+
Yes. Early in the call, naturally, she says she is the firm's AI intake assistant. We comply proactively with emerging AI-disclosure duties.
Can one firm's info leak into another firm's calls?+
Each signed implementation is configured for one firm's approved data flows. Isolation boundaries are validated before live traffic rather than relying on shared tenant memory.
What about HIPAA or medical records?+
A BAA can be arranged during implementation when required, and the signed scope defines the applicable safeguards. See Security.
Is there a per-minute charge?+
No per-call fee, ever. Each plan includes a monthly talk-time bundle (600 minutes on Launch, 1,200 on Firm, 2,400 on Multi-location). If you go past it, overage is a flat $0.15/min, a fraction of the per-call rates answering services charge. We will also move you to a better-fit plan proactively, and we never drop or block a call for going over. See Pricing.
What happens after hours or on a priority call?+
After hours, Vanessa schedules the first opening and reassures the caller. In business hours, a priority call warm-transfers to the on-call attorney; standard cases are booked.
